A Biography of Bob Fick
African and North American Wildlife Artist

 Bob Fick - -

Bob Fick has painted animals for all of his life...it was his passion for as far back as he can remember...going back to his earliest memories of doing pictures of turtles and bears while in the primary grades in school.

His boyhood idol was Paul Bransom (who in the 40's and 50's was the primary illustrator of animals for books and magazines) and when Bransom quit the business he gravitated to Bob Kuhn who replaced Bransom as the primary illustrator of animals. Both of these men have had a great influence on the way Bob chooses to portray his subjects.

It was Paul Bransom who discouraged Bob from looking at a career as an animal artist as photography was replacing the illustrator's and the future was not bright. He went into the business world and ultimately started his own business which gave him a comfortable life style while enabling him to continue painting animals as well as having the ability to collect originals of other artists he came to admire.

He has shown in various art shows around the country. He has many pieces in private collections and has donated many paintings to fund raisers for zoos and conservation organizations.

He is now retired after having sold his business...is painting consistently..and is looking for a home for his work.
